I was having intense cravings for this for several days, and it was getting to a painful point when a friend who's currently studying abroad in Shanghai was showing me the dan tats he was enjoying every day D:.
It was my first time trying POH Tat - portuguese egg tart. I wonder how it got its name. Was it first made in Portugal? I shall find out.
Delicious:
I asked my friend who lives in Chinatown where I could find the best-tasting dan tats. She recommended this place. Located on 271 Grand Street. The name of the bakery was "Dan Tat/ Egg Custard King." It looks like any other bakery on the outside. The dan tats are sold at about $0.90 each. When I first bit into the dan tat, I was disappointed. There was no flakiness, just hardened crust. Only sadness.
Then I tried the POH TAT :D. Yummy. Mouth was filled with flaky sweet pastry goodness.
Mission success
